Catherine Kammerer, BES, BS, CDP

Catherine Kammerer, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, is the founder and executive director of Wellderly. With years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, and surgery & coordination for organ tissue and eye transplant, she brings a systems-oriented approach to elder care innovation.

Catherine’s leadership is shaped as much by personal experience as by professional insight. She founded Wellderly inspired by her aunt, (pictured here on the left), and motivated by the challenges she witnessed families face in finding dignified, supportive care. Catherine’s commitment is further deepened by her mother’s own long term care journey in memory care. Combining firsthand understanding of caregiving realities with strategic execution, Catherine leads Wellderly to advance aging-in-place solutions that are centered on preserving independence and purpose.

The Wellderly Journey

From Vision to Licensed Adult Day Services

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony photo of Wellderly founders and the Anoka Chamber of commerce.

Timeline

Wellderly LLC Adult Day Services was created from a simple but urgent realization:

Families in the north metro area need more support before burnout, crisis, or premature placement happens.

What began as research into aging, caregiver stress, and memory loss evolved into a mission focused on helping older adults remain engaged, connected, and at home longer — while supporting the people caring for them.

2024

While helping navigate care needs for a family member, Wellderly’s founder began researching:

• Aging in place support

• Caregiver burnout

• Dementia and memory-loss resources

• Adult day services

• Community-based wellness programs

• Early support options for older adults

During this process, it became clear how difficult it was for many families to find supportive services before reaching exhaustion, crisis, hospitalization, or premature placement into higher levels of care.

That experience helped shape the vision for Wellderly LLC Adult Day Services: a licensed daytime program focused on engagement, structure, social connection, and caregiver relief

Early 2025

• Wellderly LLC officially formed in Minnesota.

• Began development of:

• Policies and procedures

• Programming structure

• Montessori-informed engagement concepts

• Community partnerships

• Nutrition and wellness planning

• Licensing preparation

2025–2026

• Worked through Minnesota DHS licensing requirements, inspections, compliance standards, and operational planning.

• Developed a participant-centered model focused on:

• Social connection

• Structured daytime engagement

• Cognitive stimulation

• Caregiver relief

• Supporting independence as long as possible

April 21, 2026

Wellderly LLC Adult Day Services became officially licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

This milestone represented countless hours of planning, advocacy, compliance work, and dedication to building a program designed to support aging adults and caregivers in the community.

Today

Wellderly is now:

• Accepting new participants

• Conducting assessments

• Building community partnerships

• Expanding caregiver education and awareness

• Advocating for earlier support before crisis occurs

Why Wellderly Exists

Adult day services remain one of the most underutilized support systems available to aging adults and caregivers.

Many families do not discover these services until exhaustion, hospitalization, wandering, falls, or caregiver burnout have already occurred.

Wellderly’s goal is to help bridge that gap by providing meaningful daytime support that promotes dignity, engagement, safety, and community connection.

Looking Ahead

The vision for Wellderly extends beyond traditional adult day services.

Future goals include:

• Expanded caregiver education

• Community outreach initiatives

• Wellness-based programming

• Aging-in-place resources

• Memory-support education

• Digital tools and educational content for families navigating cognitive decline

The journey is only beginning.
